I know its bad form to post when one has as many un-replied/unread comments as i, yet i felt obliged to post something serious after such a long absence of sci-fi 3d.

So this little one is a proposal for the Antaren Imperial Army's atmospheric gunship within the Angels Fall First Universe.

The large vertical module at the front is essentially a giant gimbaled turret. Inside stands the gunner, while the pilot reclines in the main fuselage.

The idea is based off of a really really old concept, which I sadly no longer have in webveiwable form, that i did back in high school.

It's nice, I like.

Too close for missles, I'm switching to guns.
Cool......as usual
Nice design, if disconcertingly similar to one of the air to ground vehicles in Earth 2160 (it's the front turret). Mind you, if you came up with it first :)
I'm digging it ^__^
how many polies?

great job. It looks like a fusion between a Romulan war bird and Bobafet's ship tho.

Nobody told me!
First up - nice new pic after the drought
Secondly - can you put a pic where the vertical turret is rolled as far back as possible?

:mib:
you will remember nothing. i was not here. it was swamp gas.
The huge turret increases drag too much to operate well in an atmosphere, I think. It also gives the gunship a huge target profile. It would be better to put the gunner behind the pilot, like in an F-14 or Apache Helicopter. Then you could put the turret flush with the fuselage and put each of the guns on gimbaled turrets. If you made the front edge smaller than the back edge, you could stagger the turrets, allowing maximum firepower on a single target, especially if you gave the gunner a good HUD and a Target Acquisition Designation Sight (a helmet that's linked to the guns so that they point wherever you look).

Other than that, it looks good! ;D
